Message It does take less time than you think.

Forum behavior is generally sheep behavior. Once something
is deemed to be cool, then that's what everyone will do. Thus
you get stupid shit like "Get B&B" or "Get LaBree". Half of
the people here buy parts without knowing why they're
buying that model, it's just what everyone here says to do
so that's the way it is.

Likewise, once it's apparent that being a moron gets you
banned, that behavior disappears very rapidly. Here's a real
sticking point. I have no problems banning someone because
they're stupid. Ignorance is ok, it can be remedied with work
(and I've seen a few of the most mechanically ignorant people
I've ever met eventually find themselves building excellent
machinery). Stupidity becomes blatantly obvious very rapidly,
and I don't have the patience or tolerance for it. "Why was
I banned?" "You're an idiot" ....perfectly reasonable to me.

Then there's the "use search" issue. On other (older) boards,
this phase has come and gone as it became apparent that it
was causing the new people to never really learn. If the
same material gets rehashed occasionally, people who never
had a reason to research a topic will have it presented to
them from time to time, allowing them to learn.

It's a message forum, not an archival record. It's here to
promote discussion. If you've heard the same material so
much that you're sick of it, I bet you're probably far more
pale than you should be. (this is one reason my site is sitting
idle right now).
